The Five Fastest Kickstarter Projects

Launching a Kickstarter project can be a nerve wracking experience for a new entrepreneur
Launching a Kickstarter project can be a nerve wracking experience for a new entrepreneur, and it’s something that many people find highly daunting when they first put themselves out there. Making a splash quickly then must come as a huge relief even if it can be somewhat overwhelming. Imagine posting your project one night and worrying that it will be ignored or fall on its face, only to wake up the next day and be backed for thousands of dollars. Talk about vindication!

Well it’s not just a pipe dream – it’s something that several lucky users have experienced and there are many examples of Kickstarter projects that have become hugely successful in no time at all. Here we will look at some of the fastest projects on the site for you to learn from and be inspired by.

Torment

Die, Stormtrooper, Die

Only last week a new RPG called Torment broke Kickstarter records to become the fastest project to reach $1 million on the site. Torment is a single player isometric game set in the world of Numenera that managed to attain its goal of $900,000 in only six hours. ‘The rate of funding did catch us off guard’, Tweeted Brian Fargo who is a developer on the project ‘we never dreamed of such success!’.

Thermodo

Thermometer

Another very recent project on the site, Thermodo recently reached its target of $35,000 in just 7 hours. This time the creation is a simple thermometer that works with your smartphone and plugs into the headphone jack so that you can measure the temperature around you. I’ve got to be honest and say that I don’t really get this one – can’t you estimate the temperature in a room pretty accurately just using your… y’know… skin? It certainly bodes well for pretty much anyone with an idea they’re unsure would take off on the site…

Double Fine Adventure

Peggling

Another computer game, Double Fine Adventure was the first Kickstarter project to reach the $1 million mark in just one day, and the second to reach that figure in the site’s history. The game is a point and click adventure game made by Tim Schafer of Grim Fandango fame, and should be released across a range of platforms including PC and mobile.

Ouya

Another big story most of us have heard by now is that of the Ouya which is second only to Pebble in terms of the amount raised. This Android-based ‘indie console’ designed to play indie games at low cost was a big hit right off the bat and managed to reach its goal within just 8 hours of going live.

Check these projects out, look for what their stories have in common, and then think about how you can learn from them and make your dream happen fast.
