Zondo Firefly Bag

Rick Bearsell is the founder of Zondo and has a background as a professional 400m runner and product designer. Rick has worked for some of the top design studios including Milan but spotted an opportunity to strike out on his own when he combined his passions.Specifically, Rick noticed a niche for a bag that would be useful for athletes as well as casual runners and cyclists.

‘Whenever jogging or cycling to or from the running track you are always vulnerable in the dark. Attaching a light that bounces around whilst your running didn’t seem the way forward, however having a built in light system that offered 180 degrees of safety seemed a far better solution.’

‘This was the Eureka moment and since then myself and our Zondo team have worked tirelessly to bring this great idea to fruition with a few extra features along the way.'

A Bright Idea

ZONDO-KICKSTARTER-FEATURE-ICONS

The Zondo Firefly Backpack draws on Rick’s experience as a product designer with great attention to detail and production values. As well as the lights – which have three settings and run on two normal AA batteries – other features include a bladder and media slot at the top of the bag, a waterproof front zip pouch, adjustable straps and plastic guards to protect the handles. Reflective logos further improve visibility and safety. Another feature that should appeal particularly to athletes is the removable ‘triathlon belt’ that allows you to take a smaller selection of gels with you without having to bring the full bag with you during training.

To get the project off the ground, Rick and his team at Zondo have taken to Kickstarter. With 17 days to go, Rick has managed to raise $5,369 of a $10,250 target.
