Any athlete who uses protein shake will know just how frustrating the conventional shakers can be to use. Either the powder doesn’t mix properly with the milk, it clumps and sticks to the bottom, or it’s impossible to wash out when you’re finished.

Neon Shakers

‘I’m sure I can’t be alone in thinking there’s little worse than opening up your shaker bottle to be hit full in the face by what can only be described as a wall of stench’, opines ShakeSphere creator Rick BEARDSELL.

Movers and Shakers

ShakeSphere attempts to solve many of these problems with a simple yet ingenious design difference. By using a half-sphere at the bottom of the bottle, it removes corners for the powder to get stuck in and ensures that you’re left with no remaining residue once you’ve emptied it out (and no nasty smell).

Another innovation of ShakeSphere comes in the form of a storage compartment in the bottom of the bottle designed to store your dry protein until you want to use it.

Another Record Win?

Rick has a background as a product designer working for some of the top design studios including Milan. During this time he learned a lot about innovation and product design and combined this with his interest in athletics (as the Masters Indoor 400m World Champion and holder of the British Indoor 400m record) to begin innovating in the field of sports apparel. Recently we featured his Zondo Firefly Bag which was successfully funded with 129% of their target.

Original Shakers

‘I like to think that my athletic experience combined with my years of design experience places me in the optimum position to brainstorm product concepts to enhance the sporting world. Based on the inconveniences during my supplement intake via shaker bottles….I thought where better to start?’

It wasn’t easy sailing from the word go though. Rick tested over 15 product samples before settling on their final design. Initially he wanted a ‘drop and lock’ lid but had to drop that idea after finding that it leaked during testing. Eventually he settled on a screw-on lid providing a 100% leak-free experience (more than can be said for the competition!).

Now Rick has settled on a final design he’s taken it to Kickstarter where he hopes for another hit. He needs £5,000 and has 24 days to go to reach his target. Visit his page here if you want to get involved.
