Bike2Bike Multifunction Towing Rack

Bike2Bike is a ‘multifunction towing rack’ for bicycles that will allow you to tow a bike behind you while riding your own. This is ideal for families heading out for a day of cycling, allowing you to bring a child’s bike with you to a park or trail for instance so they hitch a ride with you en-route but cycle on their own when they arrive at the destination.

How it Started…

Benny Winefeld, creator of the Bike2Bike towing rack, actually had a different need for such a product which was what gave him his inspiration…

Benny and Jacob“My son Jacob is seven and he loves to bike to school.”, writes Benny.”I ride with him in the morning and my wife or babysitter pick him up after school… but neither bikes. The problem began when Jacob moved to a bigger 20″ bike, which wouldn’t fit in the car trunk. Then I started to wonder – can I somehow attach his bike to mine and tow it back home? To my surprise I could not find any suitable towing device on the web. Eventually I built such a device on my own. It took few iterations to make things right, but eventually I figured it out. My son and I now use it every day!”

Bike2Bike can tow bikes of all standard sizes (only without additional riders for larger bikes), it lets another small-sized person (i.e. children weighing 60-70lbs) ride on the back while their bicycle gets towed, and it’s quick and easy to set-up (sub 30 seconds). It can also be used as a standard cargo rack when folded. The rack is constructed of aluminium with some steel, plastic and rubber parts. It folds neatly and weighs under 6lbs for easy transportation when not in use.

Getting on Board

Product design

Having chanced upon a unique idea, Benny’s next step was to take his product to Kickstarter where he hopes to raise $2,000 so it can be enjoyed by many more riders. He has 25 more days to go and has already raised $641 from backers. If you want to hitch a ride, then head over to the Kickstarter page and pledge your support.
