AirBridge Marks The Beginning Of A New Era In Mobile Data Transmission And Synchronization For the iOS

Every supporter of the 70s and 80s generations can vouch for the fact that the technology which we so commonly utilize nowadays was nothing more than just a dream back then. Granted, smartphones and tablets are quickly replacing the standard desktop workstations, and soon even your state of the art laptop might become obsolete. Because of their increasingly powerful configurations and their innate “mobility”, technological devices have revolutionized both entertainment and business environments.

However, there is still a rather stringent issue that needs to be resolved before we can take the next evolutionary step in communication: developing an effective and versatile syncing method. But it might just be that we’re closer to that than we thought, thanks to the ongoing AirBridge project. Although the gadget and its associated application are still in the prototype phase, the results so far are extremely promising.

What AirBridge actually consists of is a handheld, plug-and-play adapter for the iOS based smartphones and tablets and one that goes into the receptor (HD television set, computer screen, video projector, etc.). Its role is to stream the content from the source – in this case the iPhone or iPad – onto a larger, more visible display. Moreover, the AirBridge app (in its Pro version) permits synchronizing the source iOS-based device with the receivers of other people – their iPhone, iPad – who have the AirBridge adaptor plugged in. Pretty neat, isn’t it? Now before you argue that AppleTV was already able to do that, don’t forget that AirBridge has a few extra aces up its sleeve that can definitely shift the paradigm in its favor such as:

  • It’s cordless, incredibly fast and easy to set up.
  • Great portability, it does not require another power source because it has a proprietary accumulator.
  • AirBridge generates its own wireless network for syncing purposes.
  • Does not decrease the performance/battery lifetime of the iPhone/iPad.
  • Excellent frame rate and the video quality for 2 device mirroring is HD 1080p, while the broadcast mode compresses the video files to 720p for optimal streaming performance.

Since the AppleTV cannot actually boast any of the aforementioned features, it is safe to say that AirBridge has the upper hand. You might think that this sort of gadget would only be useful in a conference room or a university lecture hall. However, let me remind you that the ability to sync your iPhone/iPad with virtually any type of display would allow you to view entertainment media, play iOS games, and etc.

If you like the idea of the AirBridge and you would like to see this project reach completion, then you can contribute to it on Kickstarter!
