A leather belt to last a lifetime—two if you count the cow's

Swedish military patterned beltKendal and Hyde open their Kickstarter video by asking when the last time was that you owned something that ‘just worked’ and ‘wouldn’t quit’. Their promise is to deliver the longest lasting leather belt that you can ever find – guaranteed. It’s a bold promise and hopefully a great differentiator for the start-up. As they put it:

‘[It’s] a leather belt to last a lifetime – two if you count the cow’s’

Rather than using threads to sew the belt together, Kendal and Hyde are using metal Chicago screws to hold the belt buckle in place. Of course the leather is also very thick and high quality and unlike most belts, it doesn’t get thinner at the ends where it loops around. There are no cut corners in the design and the result is a leather product you can rely on.

A Notch Above the Rest

This belt comes from Kendal Liddle, who was inspired to begin developing his own leather products when he couldn’t find a leather bag that he liked that was also affordable. The belt itself was inspired by a bad experience:

“The belt was designed after Kendal’s belt broke—another example of our products being born out of personal need or frustration with what is on the market. We are our target market. We focus on what we personally want knowing that we are not so unique that there won’t be others with the same tastes, needs and frustrations with the products available to them.”

Doing Kickstarter in Style

Durable leather beltIt would seem that Kendal and Hyde’s gambit that there would be others like them out there has paid off. Already they have exceeded their Kickstarter goal by over ten times the amount they were hoping to raise; while they requested $10,000 they’re already on $106,229 with sixteen days left to go. If you want a belt buckle that will last you a lifetime and a guarantee to go with it, then head on over to the project page here before the 2nd of November.
