iXtreme

iXtreme is an awesome iPhone Case that is really a dream come true for any fans of extreme sports. It not only protects your device in the roughest of conditions but also turns it into a piece of wearable technology and all-but replaces the need for a GoPro.

The case has a number of features. Interchangeable lenses allow you to get much wider angles on your photos and videos to really capture those amazing vistas/action packed moments, while also giving it more adaptability and functionality – allowing it to clip into a tripod, multifunction monopod or even a chest-mount. It looks like something that Batman would use and is both waterproof and shock resistant. iX Grip makes it perfect for gripping too and it’s considerably more affordable than competing wearable cameras.

iPhone a No Go as Go Pro for Snow

This cool piece of kit comes from Matt Parrill of xDev and he’s highly passionate about the project.

‘Why spend three years and invest everything you have to make an iPhone case?’ he asks, ‘Because you believe in it more than anything.’

‘I was on a ski/snowboard trip with friends in Breckenridge, CO in January of 2011. I was familiar with GoPro, but I had never convinced myself to spend $300+ on a camera that isn’t practical for everyday use. I [attempted] making some action video with my iPhone. The video was awful because the field-of-view of the iPhone is so narrow. I accidentally dropped the iPhone into the snow -it took a few minutes to find it and when I did the ports were packed with snow!’

There had to be a better way…

The Goal

This isn’t Matt’s first foray into the world of tech and product development though as an Apple Certified network engineer.

‘I have been developing solutions to my own product needs for about 15 years; things that I have needed, but couldn’t find readily available. iXtreme was the first of those creations that I felt strongly enough about to bring to market.’

To do that though he needs the help of Kickstarter backers. He’s aiming to raise $5,000 and has already managed to get $1,831 pledged with 21 days to go. Why not help him out?
